Release date & Where to Watch

Sinners is gearing up to be one of the major movie releases of early 2025, with its US premiere set for Friday, March 7, 2025exclusively in theaters. The film, shot with IMAX cameras, will also be available in IMAX. While the exact UK and international release dates remain unclear, Warner Bros. has indicated that Sinners will begin its global rollout in March 2025.

Plot

Twin brothers return to their hometown, hoping for a fresh start, only to find themselves facing a far greater evil. Michael B. Jordan takes on the dual role of the brothers in Sinners.

As they try to rebuild their lives, they witness a traumatic event that draws them into a dark, supernatural force haunting their Southern town. Filming

Filming for Sinners kicked off on April 13, 2024 in New Orleans. Using the working title “Grilled Cheese,” the production wrapped up on July 17, 2024.

Behind the Scenes

Sinners marks the fifth collaboration between Michael B. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler, following their work together on Fruitvale Station, Creed, and Marvel’s Black Panther franchise. Coogler, an Academy Award-nominated filmmaker, wrote and directed the project, while Jordan stars in a dual role.

Produced by Coogler alongside Sev Ohanian (Creed III) and Zinzi Coogler (Judas and the Black Messiah), Sinners brings together a powerhouse production team. Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Göransson, known for his work on Black Panther and Oppenheimer, scores the film. Key collaborators from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever also reunite for this project, including director of photography Autumn Durald Arkapaw, production designer Hannah Beachler, editor Michael P. Shawver, and costume designer Ruth E. Carter.

Warner Bros. Pictures secured distribution rights for Sinners after a heated bidding war against Sony and Universal, making it the only 2025 release to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras.
