Release date & Where to Watch

Uncharted will make its debut exclusively on Paramount+ in the US and Canada on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024. In the UK, Germany, Switzerland, and Austriait will premiere the following day on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024. Viewers in Japan can catch the show starting Friday, Nov. 15, 2024.

Plot

Uncharted provides an intimate glimpse into Alicia Keys’ She Is The Music songwriting camp, highlighting the barriers faced by young Black and brown women in the music industry.

The documentary features aspiring artists like Ayoni from Barbados, who aims to emulate Rihanna’s success; Atlanta’s DaVionne, who is building her career after collaborating with established artists; and Chicago's Jean Deaux, a multi-talented artist managing her own writing, recording, and touring.

Alicia Keys emphasizes the film's all-female production team, stating, “Everything done in this film was done by women in every capacity.” This powerful narrative not only showcases the creative journeys of these emerging talents but also confronts the systemic challenges they encounter in their pursuit of recognition and success in the competitive music landscape.

Produced by Abby Greensfelder’s Everywoman Studios in collaboration with MTV Entertainment Studios, Uncharted is directed by Emmy and Peabody Award winner Beth Aala. The film had its world premiere at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival, showcasing behind-the-scenes footage from Alicia Keys' She Is The Music songwriting camp, an initiative aimed at increasing female representation in the music industry.
