Plot
Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? introduces a fresh twist on the beloved game show format hosted by NFL superstar Travis Kelce. In each episode, an adult contestant partners with a diverse group of celebrities from comedy, television, and sports to tackle 11 questions derived from elementary school subjects.
Instead of competing against the stars, contestants can “cheat” off the celebrities, enhancing the collaborative spirit of the game. For the final question, valued at $100,000, contestants select one celebrity to discuss their answer before making a final decision. This question is designed to be at the 6th-grade level, adding an extra layer of challenge.

His pop culture status soared even higher when he hosted the sold-out music festival KelceJam during the 2023 NFL Draft, attracting over 17,000 attendees. Expressing his excitement, Kelce said, “I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one.” He believes the new format will be both entertaining and engaging for viewers.
Why was the show Created?
After producing over 3,000 episodes of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? globally, Barry Poznick, general manager of MGM Alternative and co-creator of the original series, wanted to bring a fresh, lively twist to the beloved format. The idea behind Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? was to replace kids with celebrities, which Poznick believed would deliver more laughs and unexpected moments, much like a comedic roast, as contestants rely on their famous classmates for help.
