Destination X will premiere in the US on NBC during the midseason of 2025. The UK version will air on BBC in 2025.

Plot

Destination X takes contestants on an epic road trip, during which they must figure out their location to win the game. Once aboard the blacked-out Destination X bus, the journey turns into a real-life game board. Throughout the trip, contestants face challenges that offer clues to their whereabouts, with a few clever misdirects to keep them guessing.

At the end of each episode, the contestant who places their X marker furthest from the actual location is eliminated. The first person to correctly identify Destination X will be crowned the winner. The series merges fantasy with reality, offering viewers the chance to play along as the thrilling adventure unfolds.

Who is Hosting Destination X?

Jeffrey Dean Morgan will host NBC’s new travel adventure reality series Destination X. Bringing his rugged charm and adventurous spirit to the high-stakes competition, Morgan is stepping into his first unscripted role. Corie Henson, NBCUniversal's EVP of Unscripted Content, praised Morgan as the “perfect host” for the show, describing him as dashing, playful, and the ultimate travel companion. In addition to hosting, Morgan will also serve as an executive producer for the series.

Who is Jeffrey Dean Morgan?

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is an accomplished actor best known for his role as Negan Smith on The Walking Dead and its spin-off Dead City. He first gained attention in 2006 as Denny Duquette on Grey’s Anatomy, where his charm won over both viewers and co-star Katherine Heigl’s character, Izzie Stevens. Following this breakout role, Morgan took on iconic parts like John Winchester in Supernatural and Edward Blake in Watchmen. His career also includes appearances in The Boys, Weeds, The Good Wife, and Magic City. Off-screen, Morgan lives on a 120-acre farm in Rhinebeck, New York, with his wife, Hilarie Burton, and their two children.

Behind the Scenes

Caroline Davies and Andy Cadman will executive produce the NBC version of Destination X, alongside Twofour Managing Director Dan Adamson and Chief Creative Director David Clews. Adamson expressed pride in winning the tender for this exciting adventure format, praising the production team for their ability to make the impossible possible. He also acknowledged the efforts of their partners at UTAS and the commissioning teams at NBCU and the BBC.

Originally launched in Belgium on VTM in 2023, Destination X is produced for the US by Twofour, part of ITV Studios and Universal Television Alternative Studio. Twofour is also making the upcoming BBC adaptation, with a host yet to be announced.
