Those 8 extra keys on the top are programmable learning IR buttons to control other devices like the television and home theater audio. This is what makes it stand out from the previous version. On the other hand, the older one had a more reliable touchpad. The new one loses sensitivity around the edges of the touchpad. Also, the first backlight (red) causing interference with the BT connection making cursor movements erratic and unpredictable. The second and third colors, green and blue seem not to affect the BT connection as much. Btw, this "new" Ipazz controller is a 2018 model. I don't think they have a newer design out yet for 2019
