Plot

It’s Florida, Man brings to life the real stories behind the viral “Florida Man” phenomenon, allowing those who’ve been at the center of these wild tales to tell their side. The series features interviews with everyday Floridians alongside humor-filled reenactments led by a star-studded guest cast that includes Anna Faris, Randall Park, Jake Johnson, Simon Rex, Juliette Lewis, and more.

Each episode delves into a range of peculiar Florida headlines—think mermaids, witches, feral bunnies, and alligators—showing the bizarre side of life in the Sunshine State.

While some episodes keep the tone light, others strike a more balanced approach, acknowledging the seriousness behind certain situations. Despite the show's humor, it brings out the resilience of these Floridians, many of whom have faced their 15 minutes of internet infamy with surprising charm.

With more than two dozen guest stars rotating throughout the series, It’s Florida, Man showcases a parade of eccentric stories and characters, mixing comedy with the absurdity that has made Florida a cultural touchstone for viral moments.

Creator Jeff Tomsic was inspired by his love for the state's eccentricity, a fascination sparked by reading Carl Hiaasen's Double Whammy as a child. Florida's reputation as a magnet for “wackjobs” is embraced in the series, as Tomsic wanted to explore the quirks of the state with both humor and affection.

Each episode features a Floridian sharing a seemingly unbelievable tale, reenacted by comedians and actors lip-syncing the original dialogue. Florida-based author Carl Hiassen even makes an appearance, contributing to the authenticity of the narratives.

The show curates a selection of wild Florida stories that aim to make viewers question who the real “insane” people are—those in the stories, or the viewers themselves.

The show’s potential future seasons may even feature tales like that of Lana Del Rey marrying an alligator farmer. Ultimately, the series is a love letter to Florida’s uniquely wild culture, blending comedy, strangeness, and deep affection.
